1. The best time to visit Mu Cang Chai


The best time to visit Mu Cang Chai is from Mid-September to Mid-October during the season when rice fields are turning yellow and ready for harvest. This can be different each year (depending on weather),  so be sure to check out first. BUT from May to Sep is also no less impressive when the rice fields are green. 

2. How to travel from Hanoi to Mu Cang Chai (Yen Bai)


The Hanoi to Mu Cang Chai distance is 280km (about 180 miles), but the road is not very supportive for large vehicle so it often takes about one night  to get there.

There are two ways to visit Mu Cang Chai from Hanoi:

By Bus: Distance Hanoi – Mu Cang Chai is 280km, but the route is very bad so you have to take about 1 day to arrive by bus. Few bus firms run the route Hanoi – Mu Cang Chai.

By motobike: If you are a backpacker, motorbike is a good option. There is a National Highway No.32 linking Lao Cai and National Highway No.37 connecting to Tuyen Quang. Yen Bai is a transit point for tourists going to Mu Cang Chai.

Lim Mong Village: one of the destinations for travelers who love adventure and challenging

Khau Pha Pass: the highest mountain in Mu Cang Chai area and surrounded by mountains identical messages. The winding stretches of road pass between the old forests are bold and pristine slopes terraced fields of H’Mong, Thai.
