A1 Hill is the most famous battle of Dien Bien Phu site. The hill is 32 meters high, 82 thousand square meters large and 500 meters west of the headquarters of the French during the Dien Bien Phu campaign. It was the scene of the fiercest fighting between Vietnamese and French armies in 1954.

Today, hill A1 has been planned and renovated into an open area from morning to evening to serve tourists in and out of the country. Next to the monument was built in "Tam Son" style in the Northwestern peak to commemorate the soldiers who bravely sacrificed here. Hill A1 also has historical relics such as 18-ton tank car by the name Quan Ba Hecvuê brought from Muong Thanh up, relics of the block or explosion crater.
