The 2017 Nha Trang Sea Festival themed ‘Extending the Circle of Friendship’ will be held in Khanh Hoa province from June 10 to 13 with 50 arts, cultural and sporting activities, the provincial People’s Committee announced at a press conference on May 10.
Prominent among them include a street festival, lion and dragon dances, a fishing competition, and a cooking contest. Chefs from Nha Trang Tourism College will attempt to make the largest ever seafood hotpot in Vietnam as recognised by the Vietnam Guinness Organisation.
The biennial festival will also feature a beach volleyball tournament, a beach soccer tournament, and various folk games such as walking on stilts, human chess and skipping.
As part of the festival, Khanh Hoa Salangane’s Nest Company will host an international symposium on the sustainable development of Vietnamese salangane’s nest sector.
The festival will see performances of art troupes from Dak Lak, Thua Thien – Hue, and Bac Lieu provinces as well as five foreign troupes from Spain, France, the Republic of Korea, Australia and Russia.
Speaking at the press conference, Phan Thi Thanh Truc, Deputy Director of Khanh Hoa provincial Tourism Department said that local authorities have directed functional agencies to take measures to stablise prices as well as ensure food safety and healthcare for visitors to the locality on the occasion.
The festival is expected to welcome around 150,000 visitors. To date, 90% of rooms available for the festival at hotels rated from three stars to five stars in the city have already been booked.
