North American-based magazine International Living, has named Viet Nam among best Asian countries for US retirees.
According to International Living correspondent Wendy Justice, Viet Nam “remains an extraordinarily inexpensive place to live”.
In major urban centres, retirees can rent furnished, two-bedroom apartments for US$500 per month, and comparable properties for US$350 to US$400 a month in beach towns.
Wendy also noted that Viet Nam has become a popular destination in Southeast Asia for both expats and tourists.
Rounding the list of top 5 include Cambodia, Nicaragua, Peru, and Colombia.
International Living based its rankings on the following criteria: the cost of residential property rentals, return plane tickets to the US, groceries, clothing, telecommunications, movie theatre tickets, restaurants, gym memberships, and domestic travel.
