MATTGSTYLE: Share the most honest about the spectacular beauty of Topas Ecolodge - The pearl of Sapa

National Geographic voted Topas Ecolodge (Sapa, Lao Cai) in the first place on the list of 21 places to stay if you are interested in this planet. Nat Geo commented, "Sustainable, scenic, connected to the local community, the resort is hidden deep into one of the wildest places on the planet."

With my backpacking coming to an end I wanted to finish trip with a visit to Sapa up in the North of Vietnam. A place filled with spectacular mountains and rice fields as far as the eye can see covered by a blanket of white fluffy clouds. YES!

After our short time in the cosy Sapa town we rented our scooters and headed for Topas Ecolodge. The road was comically sketchy in places but the journey is AMAZING… you drive a little over one hour though the rural areas and pass some local villages nestled between the humongous landscapes of pure beauty. We stopped every couple of minutes just to enjoy the view. I recommend getting a scooter over a taxi as you can stop wherever you like to take some nice shots, unless you have a big suitcase that is.

Arriving during nightfall gave me the most magical entrance one can wish for at Topas Ecolodge, feeling like It was like something out of a fairytale. We had a quick bite in the lobby to the left before going to bed early to make the most of the following day.

Goodmorning guys, you’re in for a treat when you go for breakfast at Topas Ecolodge, not only for your appetite but more so for the view. Try their homemade kisch, a most satisfying choice. And the rice farmland makes a perfect environment for your morning rituals. Bon Apetit!

With my tummy filled up I headed for the infinity pool overlooking the valleys of Sapa. A view like no other and to my opinion the best one you can have. It even looks a bit surreal but I can assure you it’s legit! Check it out.

Sadly I didn’t get to enjoy a full spa treatment but I did take the opportunity to enjoy a relaxing herb bath overlooking the massive mountains of Sapa. Auch, HOT!

Concerning the food I have to say it was very tasteful. Especially the duck they serve is delicious. However, portions are small so for me I needed some side dishes and a desert to calm my stomach. We had some fried banana and chocolate cake, both delightful dishes.

The service at Ecolodge is most kind, if only their level of English was a little better. Asking for a can of their fresh mountain water instead of bottled water was too complex. Also when asking for the biggest dish on the menu I had to explain it with gestures for almost 5 minutes for them to understand. Some classes in basic English for their personnel would help increase their service to the next level.

Nevertheless, this place looks allot like paradise. Therefore it is only normal for couples to enjoy their honeymoon in this marvellous environment. I saw 2 lovebirds in just 2 days time taking pictures with the magnificent scenery of the Topas Ecolodge. And I can only agree, it’s a splendid choice.

Our final night I took the chance to admire the sky as it illuminated from the numerous stars of our universe. I tried capturing it with a long exposure shot on my Canon 550 D to give you guys a feel of what I saw that night. We woke up early to catch the sunrise and enjoy the magnificent view on the valleys down below.

After a mesmerising break of day I jumped in soft bed again for some further editing and for an extra nap. When my beauty sleep was over I went upstairs of the duplex to take a hot bath in the massive stone tub. Cool right?

A last peek at the view before checking out made me silent as I was taking in all the beauty of what this place has to offer.

All I can say is that if you wanna go to Sapa, go Ecolodge! I just captured a glimpse of the beauty with my camera surrounding this place. In real life it is even more impressive!

Get out there and explore!
