Hoi An Lantern Will Shine In Wernigerode City - Germany

From August 23-25, 2019, in the Wernigerode city of German will be lit by hundreds of handmade lanterns from Hoi An city (Quang Nam - Vietnam). The event organized by the People's Committee of Hoi An city in collaboration with the city government of Wernigerode.

Since 2013, the city of Wernigerode (Germany) has built up a meaningful relationship with Hoi An city (Vietnam) based on a sustainable urban partnership. Wernigerode is known as one of the colorful ancient towns famous for the tourist activities of the Harz region.

With many similarities in the cultural and social environment, plus the affection of the people here for Hoi An, the two cities agreed to organize the Hoi An Lantern Festival event in Wernigerode.

According to Hoi An Cultural - Sports and Radio - Television Center, at the "Hoi An Lantern Festival", a large number of German people, international friends and overseas Vietnamese are living and studying in Germany will enjoy, exchange many typical cultural activities, bearing bold Vietnamese culture and specific features of Hoi An culture such as: Special cultural exchange performances by German and Vietnamese door artists; Exhibition and display of lanterns on the old town; participate in folk games, Bai Choi singing, Sap dance (Nhay Sap) and enjoying traditional flavors of Quang Nam province ... performed by Hoi An artisans themselves.

Guests will be invited to experience the wonderful Southeast Asian cuisine with dishes from Vietnam served by the original Hoi An chefs. Artists, singers and musicians from Germany and Vietnam will perform very special repertoire set up for the Lantern Festival.

Accordingly, with the common cooperation and commitment achieved in the past years, the two cities have jointly received the "German National Sustainability Prize in 2019".
