March - Flowers Season on the Stone Plateau

Visitors to the Dong Van stone plateau in Ha Giang province this time of the year will be enchanted with different kinds of flowers which are in full blossom in the northeastern mountainous region. All the streets, mountain peaks, valleys and houses in the area are covered with pink peach, white plum and yellow mustard. The strong contrast of imposing mountains with wide stretching stone plateau against a backdrop of tiny flowers leaves a deep impression on travelers.

When the Spring comes, everywhere from Quan Ba (Quyet Tien, Minh Tan), Yen Minh (Lao Va Chai, Na Khe, Bach Dich), Dong Van (Pho Bang, Pho Cao, Sung La, Sa Phin, Thai Phin Tung) to Meo Vac (Sung Tra, Sung Trai, Lung Phin), the peach flowers, plum flowers and yellow rape flowers bloom with dark rocky plateau and rammed earth houses lasted until March.

Although it is in mid March, the rocky hamlet is still being decorated by numerous peach and plum blossoms, perhaps the last ones before going to “sleep” till the next blossoming season. The peach blossom trees, plum looking outstanding on the gray background of the rock plateau in Ha Giang.

Between the hot and cold weather of March, visitors may wonder things to see in Ha Giang in March. Red silk-cotton flowers also known as “moc mien”, or Po Lang flowers. Red silk-cotton flowers are known as the "spark of the sky” by its splendor among the silvery, milky sky of the weather in March. The color of red silk cotton flowers enhances the "painting" of spectacular mountain scenery of the plateau in Yen Minh region. Red silk-cotton flowers grow everywhere, from crooks to winding mountain passes on Highway 4c ...
