A1 Hill - where to keep the historic battle of Dien Bien Phu campaign

A1 Hill is the most famous battle of Dien Bien Phu site. The hill is 32 meters high, 82 thousand square meters large and 500 meters west of the headquarters of the French during the Dien Bien Phu campaign. It was the scene of the fiercest fighting between Vietnamese and French armies in 1954.

A1 with the hills C1, C2, D, E create a solid wall shielding the center of Dien Bien Phu. This is the most important point - is like the "key" in the conglomerate base in Dien Bien Phu of the French colonialists back 1954. After many fierce battles took place here, finally to dawn on May 7, 1954 our troops have occupied the hill A1.

Today, hill A1 has been planned and renovated into an open area from morning to evening to serve tourists in and out of the country. Next to the monument was built in "Tam Son" style in the Northwestern peak to commemorate the soldiers who bravely sacrificed here. Hill A1 also has historical relics such as 18-ton tank car by the name Quan Ba Hecvuê brought from Muong Thanh up, relics of the block or explosion crater.

The best time to visit

You can go to Hill A1 at any time of the year as the weather in Dien Bien is quite cool, however, it should go on the occasion of 7/5 every year - the anniversary of Dien Bien Phu victory to be merged into The atmosphere is bustling, bustling here. Avoid going on rainy days, the weather is so uneconomical to travel, visit and feel the historic significance that remains here.
