When spring comes, apart from travelling, Vietnamese people usually go on a pilgrimage at the beginning of Lunar New Year to pray for safety, health, good luck, prosperity and happiness during the year. The followings are some beautiful and unique temples, the tranquil places for sightseeing tours and exciting new things in early spring.

1. Bo Da Pagoda

Bo Da Pagoda is one of the major centers of Buddhism in Truc Lam Yen Tu order. The temple is located on Bo Da Mountain, Tien Son Commune, Viet Yen District, Bac Giang Province. This land is where the charming natural scenery with winding rivers, peaceful villages. Almost all the sceneries and the creatures seem to be in fairyland, being very suitable to sightsee in early Lunar New Year.

It is also known as one of the temples, owning many the best things in the North, concluding the most unique architecture, the most beautiful and the largest garden tower in Viet Nam. Buddhist pious people certainly can not ignore this ideal location simply because it is also a place to keep valuable antiquities and a precious treasure of Han – Nom heritage.

2. Vinh Nghiem Pagoda

Vinh Nghiem Pagoda also is considered as Duc La Pagoda, located in Duc La Village, Yen Tri Commune, Yen Dung District, Bac Giang Province. It was built from the 13th century, situated on a low hill, surrounded by northern midland natural scenery. With antique-style architecture, Vinh Nghiem Pagoda is designed in "big internal, small external" with full of ancient and quiet features.

Another highlighted thing of Vinh Nghiem Pagoda is a woodblock, also known as wooden letter, dating about 700 years. This is one of the ancient treasures plays a significant role to Buddhism in particular and Vietnamese culture in general.

3. An Tam Truc Lam Zen Monastery

An Tam Truc Lam Zen Monastery is located in Tay Thien relic area, Dai Dinh Commune, Tam Dao District, Vinh Phuc Province. Althought the Zen monastery is settled right next to famous Tay Thien Truc Lam, this place brings a touch of quiet, not bustle and crowd. The monastery is considered as where the all the Buddhist nuns concentrated.

Besides the outstanding representative of the extensive monastery, it is impressed by 19-meter-length lying Buddha statue above, 6 additional landscapes reconstituted the journey in searching of truth of the Buddha, scenes from the Siddhartha Gautama Prince was born until Buddha entered nirvana, which has created below.

4. Tay Phuong Temple

In the Mac dynasty, the temple is constructed on the Cau Lau Mountain, Yen Village, Thach Xa Commune, Thach That District, Ha Noi City. It is also called as Sung Phuc Pagoda and Hoang Son Pagoda by the locals. Tay Phuong Pagoda is designed in “Tam” typography, included three parallel temples along the mountainside, each temple separated by 1.6 meters, namely Ha Pagoda, Trung Pagoda, and Thuong Pagoda. This place is considered as a museum of Buddha statue with many unique ancient, lively and soulful statues.

More than 70 statues in the temple with bas-relief, mostly are carved by “red-painted gold-inlaid”  ebony wooden, such as the Buddha statue, the statue of Bodhisattva Manjushri and Samantabhadra Bodhisattv... Many of them are carved higher than the real people, including eight Vajra as well as Dharmapala statues, being about 3-meter-height, whose faces are solemn and hearted. The majority of these objects are considered that dated in the late 18th century, a number of others were made in the mid 19th century.
