The festival is held by Thai people at a shrine of Muong village in order to worship tutelary god of the village and those who found Thai village when they moved from Bac Ha (Lao Cai province). In this festival, local people also pray for good weather, rich crop and happiness for family. This is an occasion to appreciate cultural values of Thai people and promote history and tourism potential of the commune. Thai people gather together and take part in many exciting activities during festival time. The first day is for the ritual, dancing, singing and playing “gong” (an instrument of Vietnamese ethnics). The second day is more fun with shooting and cross-bow contest.

With unique festival of  Thai ethnic  in Mai Chau. I’m sure that you not only get more fun but also understand the uniqueness of local culture during your trip in Viet Nam.
