The bridge is 128 meters long, 5.2 meters wide, and 0.5 meters sidewalk. It was invested by Messageries Maritimes, a French merchant shipping company, and built by Levallois Perret, a French construction company in 1894.

There are different interpretations about the bridge’s name. The French called it Messageries Maritimes Company Bridge while Vietnamese called it Mong Bridge (Rainbow Bridge) because of its shape.

According to the original design, the bridge was used for both pedestrians and motor vehicles. N
only serves pedestrians.

Nearby are the modern buildings such as the Bitexco Financial Tower, Times Square, and Nha Rong Wharf, a famous historical site on the Saigon River in District 4.

Today, this historic bridge is still a popular destination for young people as well as tourists to enjoy the quiet and relaxing space. In the morning, many people take exercises on the bridge. When night falls, the bridge becomes more crowded. Along the bridge couples sit down together; people gather for chatting, dancing, playing the guitar or go for a walk. It’s so peaceful.

The lights of the street reflecting on the river make the bridge sparkling and romantic so much.
The only bridge in Saigon built in the French colonial period is a great place to take photos, and enjoy fresh air and cool breeze from the canal.
